В долгосрочных испытаниях исследователь может получать оплату после заключительного визита каждого пациента, участвующего в испытании. Это побуждает исследователя работать так, чтобы как можно больше пациентов закончили исследование полностью. Пациент может, однако, принять решение прекратить участвовать в исследовании. Исследователь должен с этим согласиться и не убеждать продолжать участвовать в испытании.
